Shop Manuals
& Service Literature
We get calls and e-mails all the time from people looking for "a book
on Pontiacs" or "a manual for a Jaguar", and sometimes it
can be a challenge to identify exactly the item that will do you the most
good. With that in mind we hope to educate the lay man as to the various
types of service information available at eAutomobilia, and why each may
serve your needs.
If you've just acquired a car and you plan to restore it, there's lots of
information you will need. Depending on the car, a shop
manual may not be your first priority. If the vehicle is partially or
completely disassembled, you'd do well to locate a parts
book to identify all those loose bits in the milk crates, back seat, trunk
etc. If you're not sure how to get the power seat to recline, the owner's
manual is your best bet. If you need to replace a rusted fender, you may
need a body manual.
Before you start looking for literature, it's best to know the year, make
and model of the vehicle, the engine size, and if the engine is the
original unit. Take a moment to consider: what do I need to know about
this vehicle? When you focus on the information you need, rather than
"anything on...", this will make your search much more
productive.
